It was not until the age of 22 that Brian became a Christian. As a Christian, he began worshipping at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, which at the time was under the leadership of pastor Chuck Smith. Upon the request of pastor Chuck Smith, Brian became the senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in October 2013. The church itself was founded by pastor Chuck Smith, the father of his wife. Before emerging as senior pastor at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, Brian taught bible studies and served in youth ministry. In 1983, he served as a pastor at Calvary Chapel Vista. During his time serving as a pastor in Vista, Brian and his wife engaged in numerous outreaches in Eastern Europe starting from Yugoslavia and Hungary. Their dedication to spreading the gospel far and wide paid off as in present times there are many bible colleges and churched across Europe. Brian and his wife planted what was a small church at the time in England in the year 1996, however “Calvary Chapel Westminster” now has a couple of affiliate Calvary Churches in England.
Brian has a daily bible teaching program where he teaches the scriptures in clear terms known as “Back to Basics”.

Brian is married to Cheryl Brodersen whom he met at a bible study is Huntington Harbor. Cheryl is the youngest daughter of pastor Chuck and Kay Smith. The couple got married on the 23rd of May 1980. Together, they have raised four grown children and are proud grandparents as well.
