Louie Giglio is a famous Italian-American Christian pastor, preacher and writer known for establishing the “Passion Movement” which is basically a gathering of college students and for being the lead pastor of Passion City Church.
Louie Giglio Biography
Louie Giglio was born on the 30th of June 1958 to Louie F. Giglio Jr. and Martha Giglio. He was raised and grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta. His father who is also his name sake died from a heart attack and brain infection in later years. Pastor Louie Giglio was on a flight at the time, having decided to leave his home in Waco and move to Atlanta so that he could be closer to his father. It was during the flight that Giglio felt a calling to start a gathering for students in college where they would come together to learn about God. Sadly, Giglio’s father died before his arrival to Georgia.

Before earning his Master of Theology degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louie Giglio first had his high school education at Campbell High School, a public high school in Georgia U.S. Upon graduating high school, Louie went on and had himself enrolled at Georgia State University where he bagged a Bachelors degree of Arts. Pastor Louie Giglio also has a Doctor of Ministry degree from Grace Theological Seminary, Winona Lake, Indiana.

Giglio’s decision to give his life to Christ happened at about 2am one morning during his freshman year and from then till now, Louie Giglio’s relationship with God has only gotten stronger. Before the Passion City Church came into full view, Giglio first started a weekly bible study with the help of his wife Shelley at Baylor University where Giglio enrolled for graduate studies. The bible study was called “Choice” and it started after his graduation from the seminary. The weekly bible study soon progressed into a conference for college students where they would gather to learn about God and the scriptures. It was called “Passion Conference” and the first of its kind took place in Austin, Texas in the year 1997 with an attendance of over 2,000 college students.

Louie Giglio found himself entangled with a racism related issue in June 2020 where he referred to the historical enslavement of black people as a blessing of slavery that laid the foundation for white privilege which he also referred to as “white blessing”. It goes without saying that he received a lot of backlash for these comments as a lot of persons were disappointed at the pastor. He later went online to apologize to the pubic via twitter for the things he said.
