American evangelist, author and Pastor Greg Laurie was born on the 10th of December 1952 in Long Beach California. Unlike most evangelist, Laurie was not born or raised in a Christian home. In fact, he was born out of wedlock and was raised by his single mother who ended up meeting a series of men in a bid to give meaning to her life. Greg as a result of this had to ‘up and move’ every now and then to different parts of the country. He answered to the tile of, “the new kid” a good number of times.

Greg Laurie is married to Catherine Laurie. The two have been married for over 40 years now since 1974 and live together in Newport Beach. Their marriage was blessed with 2 wonderful sons, Christopher Laurie and Jonathan Laurie and five amazing grandchildren. It was however on a sad note that they lost Christopher on the 24th of July 2008 to a car accident. He died at the youthful age of 33. Christopher at the time of his death had a daughter, Stella and his wife Brittany was expecting Lucy, their second daughter.

It was at the age of 17 in 1970 that Laurie gave his life to Christ and became a devout Christian under the ministry of evangelist Lonnie Frisbee while still attending Newport Harbor High School. At the age of 20 in 1973, as a mentee to pastor Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel, Greg led a bible study of 30 people. In no time, the size of the group grew prompting Greg to establish Harvest Christian Fellowship Riverside, California.
Greg Laurie founded “Harvest Crusades” where large scale evangelism is carried out across the United States in the year in 1990. He still remains the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship. Laurie’s sermons can be heard on the 30 minute daily “A New Beginning” program broadcasted on various radio stations worldwide.
