The New Zealand-born Christian and Jewish evangelist and pastor, Ray Comfort was born on the 5th of December 1949 in Christchurch, New Zealand to a Jewish mother and a father who he described to be a gentile open to the things of God. On his birth certificate, his parents said Ray was Methodist. Unlike most evangelists and pastors who trace by their ministerial works to their childhood and Christian upbringing, Ray Comfort admitted to having zero Christian instruction and went to church about 3 times in twenty years.
RAY COMFORT EDUCATION
Ray admitted to being in the top of his class in his high school in Christchurch where he was awarded a certificate for completing Year 11 examinations. He finished high school at 17 and did not further his education. He went on to work in a bank, and began a thriving business just after his teenage hood at age 20.
It is also important to note that, Pastor Ray Comfort did not undergo ministerial or theological training like most pastors. He holds no theological degree.
RAY COMFORT FAMILY
Ray got married to his wife, Sue Comfort in 1972. Together their marriage has been blessed with three wonderful children; Rachel Comfort, Daniel Comfort and Jacob Comfort who are now all adults. He and Sue lives together in Southern California.
RAY COMFORT MINISTRY
Ray Comfort founded “The Way Of The Master” in Bellflower California and also started “Living Waters” publication. It was in 2001 that Ray Comfort partnered with Kirk Cameron an actor to launch the ministry, with hopes of showing Christians how to share their faith the way Jesus did.
He turned to Christ in 1972 on the 25th of April. He was 22 when he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, since then he engaged in open-air preaching and sharing the bible. He continued to preach openly, consistently on a daily basis for about 12 years. It was during those times that he started the publication of “Living Waters” an evangelistic newspaper.
Comfort pastored in Christchurch New Zealand for three and a half years following his ordination as a full time pastor. He went on to preach for 12 years in the city’s Speaker’s Corner.
He is known famously for his preaching’s against abortion, evolution, atheism which are most times than not categorized as controversial
