Brooke’s birth name is Brooke Gabrielle Fraser. She was born on the 15th of December 1983, and has her origins tied to Wellington, New Zealand. She was born to Bernie Fraser and Lynda Fraser. She is an elder sister to two brothers; Matthew Fraser and Shea Fraser. Brooke was raised in Naenae, Lower Hutt, New Zealand by her family.

Brooke Ligertwood started writing songs during her childhood at the young age of 12. And at age 15 she had learnt to play the acoustic guitar all by herself. Music and songwriting has always been a part of her. Brooke started off writing for a magazine when she was 15 and was later promoted to the role of editor for the same magazine in 2002. Her editing job was however short lived as she gave it up toward the end of the same year to pursue a career in music.
Brooke joined Hillsong Worship in 2005 and worked with them through 2010. She left Hillsong Worship afterwards and rejoined the group six years later in 2016.

Brooke married fellow songwriter, Scott Ligertwood. The two tied the knots on the 17th of March 2008 in Sydney and have stayed married ever since. Their marital union has been fruitful and blessed with two lovely daughters. Their first daughter was born on 18th September 2015 and their second daughter was born on the 10th of July 2017.
